San Juan & Bacardi

After flying into San Juan on Thursday afternoon we spent Friday doing some sightseeing in Old San Juan. We started off at the Castillo de San Cristóbal that was the cornerstone of the walls that surrounded the old city.  Some parts of it date back to the mid 1600's.

We then took the ferry across to bay to the Bacardi factory.  It was not a tour of the factory but more of a tour of the museum.  The tour was fine but the free drinks sampling some of Bacardi's flavored rums were excellent!

That night, Darren and I met up with my former coworker (and friend) Jeremy for dinner at a great place called Ajili Mojili.  I had excellent Mofongo which is plantains mashed like potatoes mixed with a sauce.  Mine had skirt steak and shrimp.  Ah mah zing!!   Later that night we to a club called Brava.  Being on vacation there were no high heels packed and I felt so so out of place! All those short short Puerto Rican girls in their 5 inch heels staring because I had on flats!  Oh well even with flats I was still taller than they were! ;)  We had a great time with Jeremy and had fun experiencing the Puerto Rican night life.
