A few weeks ago Darren and I walked downtown for lunch. There was a bike race/fair going on and included was a BMX Stunt Show. We didn't go down to watch but ended up being there when the show started and stayed. What these guys can do with a bike and ramp is unreal!
Over July 4th weekend our friends Tim & Kristin got married in Chicago. She is Greek and they were married in a Greek Orthodox church. I was amazed by the mosaics in this place. It is hard to tell but this wall art is all mosaic!
As is this picture of Jesus on the ceiling.
We got to spend the weekend with Alex and Anna as well who we hadn't seen since our own wedding.
The front of the church. All of that blue, all mosaic!
Husband & wife.
The cake was beautiful.
Alex and Darren really miss each other. Darren showing some affection to Alex who is really enjoying it!
It was also Anna's birthday. To celebrate we put a candle in her drink. We had already eaten the cake!
July 4th we had some friends over for dinner and to celebrate. Carmen, Mollie, Ji, Vic, Kunal, Rebecca, Darren, Ashley, me, Jay. We had a fun time with sparklers and watching the fireworks from our front porch
Jay photobombed my picture.
Fun with sparklers.
The fireworks were really nice downtown.
Until the lack of wind caused the smoke not to blow away. At the end you couldn't see the fireworks behind the smoke!
While watching fireworks we found this slug next to our porch. I wish there was something for comparison but this guy was like 6 inches long. The longest slug I ever have seen!
So glad we got to experience the "Vegas of the East" while we were in Hong Kong. It isn't nearly as fun or entertainment filled as Vegas but it was still interesting to see how the other half of the world gambles. :)
Again I am three months behind blogging, how does this even happen!! Anyways, we couldn't leave Indianapolis next year without going to the famous Indy 500! I was a little weary and thought it wasn't going to that fun but I was surprised by just how much fun we had! This is what we saw walking into the racetrack.
Darren and I went with Saurabh and his brother who chose his time to visit Indy based on the date of the 500!
I insisted on seats instead of being int he infield. I'm glad I did because we really enjoyed our view. We could see turn 3 and 4 and were sitting along the short shoot between the two turns.
The day is full of ceremony. Here are some of the drivers getting announced before the race started.
The pace cars drive around the track prior to being the official pace care of the race.
A bunch of people from the Boston Marathon who were not able to finish the race due to the bombing were allowed to finish by running down the track to the finish line. It was a neat scene.
A bunch of balloons let off before the race.
The pre-race flyover.
The line-up prior to the green flag.
And the race starts!
It's amazing just how fast the cars go, they really are just a blur going by!
Sarah was just a few sections away from us so I stopped by to say hello.
