White Water Walk

One interesting spot near the falls is the Whtie Water Walk.  You can walk along some of the world's strongest rapids, class 6.  At this point in the river, the water is traveling about 30 mph.  Many people have died trying to navigate this stretch of water.

We also went to the American side of the falls.

And went down to Cave of the Winds and walked along and over part of the American falls.  We had on pants, which was a large mistake and anything our ponchos did not covered was drenched!

Maid of the Mist and the Falls at Night

We also wanted to take the Maid of the Mist while at the Falls.

The boat takes you as close to the falls as the current allows.

The mist also creates some beautiful rainbows.

The boat gets so deep in the mist you can see little else.

That night we went back down to the falls to check out the fireworks over the American Falls.

And the lights on the falls.

Niagara Falls

After the weekend in Buffalo, we roadtripped it up to Niagara Falls.  Darren had never been and I think I was about 13 the last time I was there.  It was a beautiful day.

So may glorious rainbows!

We went down behind the falls.  I forgot just how close you could get and just how loud the water is.

Today most of all I'm thankful for our family and each other. Glad everyone made the trip to Indy to visit us for the day!

With love to them an all.  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Jay & Lisa's Wedding

I thought it was neat that all the parents got to walk down the aisle

The ceremony was very non-traditional with the judge doing most of the service but a Hindu Priest and Minister both spoke as well.

This picture turned out neat. Wish I had this much photography luck on a normal day.

The reception was the brightest most fun one I'd been to in a long time.

First dance.

Michigan friends, Darren, Jay and Ashish.

Pre-Wedding Festivities

From Atlanta I flew and met Darren in Buffalo for his friend's wedding.  On Friday night, Jay & Lisa had an Indian reception where we were two of only a handful of people not dressed in traditional Indian dress.

Darren with the groom.

They had a band they had hired that played popular Indian music.  I forget the name, but they were brought in from Canada of all places. Jay & Lisa with the band.

Surprise!

Phew it seems so great to be done blogging about Asia but now I'm 5 months behind in life blogging.  Hopefully I can catch up quickly!

Right after Asia I made a surprise trip down to Atlanta to see Elizabeth on her birthday and spend the day with her!

Steve got Elizabeth the most gigantic carrot cake for dessert. It was huge and delicious!

Day 21 - Hong Kong

The last day of our trip we took a day trip to Lantau which is best known for their cable car to the top of the mountain.  Unfortunately, it was under maintenance and we didn't get to ride it.

At the top of mountain is "Big Buddha," which is about three stories tall.

Back down in Na Ping was this beautiful gate.

The gate takes you down a path of warriors where each warrior represents each astrological sign.

Our next stop was the Na Ping Monastery.

The last stop of the day was in a finish village that specialized in dried fish. We saw this gigantically huge dried shark... Crazy!

And a random site within the village was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!

And a beautiful sunset capped off our amazing trip.

In the end I was so glad we got the opportunity to travel to Asia but after three and a half weeks, I was so ready to go home. What am amazing experience!
