Priya & Raj's Reception

The ceremony and lunch were from 10 AM to 2 PM.  We had a few hour break where we got to spend some time at the pool.  The cocktail (two) hour started at 6 PM with the reception following at 8 PM.

The cocktail hour had sort of a carnival theme. Aside from this plate balancer, there was a mime and a contortionist.

The reception was beautiful.  They had this ice sculpture and chocolate fountain.

And two full sized bars made of ice!

The tables were covered with their personalized M&Ms that tied us over for the two hours of speechs, dances, skits and performances.

What a fun weekend!!

Priya and Raj's Wedding

In early August we went to Tucson for Priya and Raj's Wedding.  This was the first full Indian wedding that Darren or I had ever been to.  So much different from any other wedding we've attended previously!

This is what is called the Baraat.  It is where the Groom, his family and friends lead a parade of sorts to celebrate the start of the wedding.  In this case, Raj arrived by horse drawn carriage. 

Once Raj arrived it was a big dance party.  That is his sister they are holding up with him.

The ceremony was very elaborately decorated.  I didn't know that in a traditional Indian ceremony the Bride does not arrive until much later.  In this case over an hour in.  Here is Priya being carried in.  The guy on the left in bright blue is her brother.

Good Eats in Tucson

In Tucson, one night we went to El Charro Cafe.  It is known for being the oldest Mexican Restaurant in continuous operation.  Since 1922!  Sean graciously posed with a burrito twice the size of his head!! And also a shot of my tamales.  They were super tasty!!

The week before last, my boss dropped the "Do you think you could go audit in Tucson for me?" bomb.... I begrudgingly agreed.  We had a successful week and got to stay in a wonderful hotel just north of the city.  A few pictures I took just walking around the hotel.
