Kentucky Derby

In May Darren and I were able to go to our second Kentucky Derby.  If you remember correctly, our first Derby was in the absolute pouring rain so we were hoping for better weather this time!  The night before Beth's family had a birthday party for Annie who was about to turn one.  She totally loved her Gigi's cupcake!

My brother even got to stop by for a few minutes before he headed to the Hot 100 Party.  He looks pretty spiffy if I do say so myself!

The weather cooperated and what we got what we wished for but it was 90 degrees and  sunny.  Way too hot to be in the infield for sure but we survived!

Our arrival at Churchill Downs.

In the end we were glad to be there but I didn't get to see a horse that wasn't on the jumbotron!  I Want Another went on to win the Derby

Weekend of Tubing

I spent 4th of July weekend up at Lake Cumberland.  It was nice to get away for a weekend and relax with friends.  Tubing wasn't as hard or crazy as the pictures indicate, but it was fun regardless! :)

Weekend at Lake Cumberland: Elizabeth & Me

Great weekend with a great friend! Can't wait till next time!

Weekend at Lake Cumberland: Puppy Love

The weekend was full of dogs with 5 of them between the two boats.

Cody showing off his jumping ability.  He also proved quite faithfully how good of a retreiver he will be by swimming out and pulling the raft Elizabeth & Eric were floating on back to the boat!

Stately Reggie getting lifted by Elizabeth's mom.

A cute family pic: Elizabeth, Steve, Reggie and Sophie.

Weekend at Lake Cumberland: Spidey's Antics

Mark kept wearing this old red and blue wet suit we deemed the "Spidey Suit."  It also forced him to do some insane maneuvers on the tubes.

First up, treating Steve quite inappropriately.

Then he flips himself over, somehow stays on, contintues to stay on through 4 pictures and then flips himself back over!

I'm well on my way to flipping.

Weekend at Lake Cumberland: Tubing

We spent a lot of time over the weekend tubing.  Geriatric tubing as Eliz's dad called but it but fun none-the-less!

Weekend at Lake Cumberland: Cliff Jumping

I did not partake in this activity but it looked super fun.  Even Cody, Elizabeth's parent's dog got in a solid 6 foot jump after following someone off one of the smaller cliffs!

A Great Game Against an Unfortuately Great Kentucky Team...

Saturday night was the much awaited match up with the #2 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.  The cats destroyed us up in Lexington earlier in the season so this was for revenge.  We played a great game and held starts John Wall to 13 points and 2 assists and DeMarcus Cousins to only 5 rebounds.

It came down to the last play and AJ Ogilvy missed a floater in the lane for the tie at the end of regulation.  Memorial was silent and we will have to wait for a chance to beat Kentucky another day.

Here are Jane and I with our pregame faces on.

The enemies, Brooke and Justin.

Mom and I a little sad after a great game.  Too bad it was a loss!

Steven's Graduation

In May Steven graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Economics.  Taking after his big sister, aww! ;)  He had a lot of setbacks along the way but we could not have been more proud of him walking across that stage.  You could just tell by his huge smile how excited he was to have accomplished so much!  Brother, I'm very proud of you and love you so much. Congratulations!!
