Bridgetown, Barbados

Finally on Wednesday we decided to sleep in and then sight see on our own.  Our first stop in the morning was Mount Gay Rum.  They claim to be the oldest brand of rum in the world which has been produced in Barbados since 1703.   I found it interesting that Mount Gay ages their rum in used Jim Beam Bourbon barrels.
From there we went to the beach.  Sadly I don't remember which one.  We settled near where we walked on to the beach and my first trip into the water a rock the size of a basketball crashed into my shin.... That prompted a move a few blocks north where the beach was clear of rocks and the waves were significantly calmer.

After the beach, we took a cab to downtown Bridgetown.  Not much there to write home about but the view from the ship when we were pulling out of port was pretty!
